Instructions
Chapter 4 has five sets of exercises, with corresponding instructions for each exercise below.
Answers must use the appropriate capitalization/case, punctuation, and accents to be considered correct. Answers must be typed in lower case (except for initial capital letters a sentence) and use a full stop at the end of a sentence. Other examples of correct punctuation include putting a space before exclamation marks / question marks / semi-colons / colons in French; using French guillemets; putting titles (including film titles) in italics, and so on.
Exercise 1: Adjective agreement with nouns (write-in)
Type in your answers, making the adjectives in brackets agree with the nouns.
Exercise 2: Position of adjectives: before and after the noun (multiple choice)
Read each sentence in French and select the most appropriate translation in English according to the position of the adjective.
Exercise 3: Indefinite and negative noun phrases with adjective complements (write-in)
Translate the phrases in brackets into French paying special attention to the form of the adjective.
Exercise 4: Comparative adjectives (write-in)
In each sentence, change the adjective into the comparative form indicated in brackets. Type the comparative adjective in the answer box.
Exercise 5: Superlative adjectives (write-in)
In each sentence, change the adjective into the superlative form indicated in brackets. Type the superlative adjective in the answer box in full. For example, J’ai passé une longue journée au bureau (the longest) = la journée la plus longue.
